Improve Server Efficiency by Optimizing the Network Interface and Its Memory
Wed. Oct 31st at 10:10am – 12:15pm

As network interface bandwidth requirements continue to grow on servers and as SDN drives programmability of networking data plane, cloud and on-premise server solutions must make a decision on the optimal Network Interface Controller (NIC) for their system. The advent of the SmartNIC has allowed servers to increase the efficiency of their cores by off-loading network functions that would typically require thousands of clock-cycles whether a packet was forwarded or not. SmartNICs include relatively large memory on-chip and on the SmartNIC board to hold a large number of networking flows. Micron will present the breadth of memory offerings and their tradeoffs that maximize the value proposition of the SmartNIC. Tradeoffs include bandwidth, density, power and cost profile, which in turn, directly translates to a service provider value proposition of vastly improved server efficiency, allowing compute resources to be utilized for what they were intended.

AI Shaping Next Generation Memory Solutions
Thurs. Nov. 1st at 3:00pm – 4:00pm

The next killer app is at our doorstep and is already beginning to expose weaknesses in current system architectures. The requirement for real-time information intelligence is quickly pushing power consumption, memory bandwidth, compute density, and storage capacity to their respective theoretical limits. Advances in semiconductor processes, computing parallelism, and new software frameworks help to alleviate this strain but relief appears to be temporary. Computing architectures and memory/storage paradigms must change in order for innovation in AI applications to proceed unabated. This discussion will focus on intermediate and long-term changes being driven into traditional memory and storage interfaces, advances in new memory media, and proposals to new compute-in-memory architectures to enable significantly more efficient data flow within the enterprise server.

Attend our Breakout Session with VMware

“Enhance your vSphere and vSAN implementations with Persistent Memory and SSDs”

Tuesday, Aug 28th at 2:00pm – 3:00pm
Can add room after 8/20

SSDs and Persistent Memory are becoming mainstream datacenter technologies, but how can you fully take advantage of them for your workloads? Experts from the VMware labs will show you how running vSphere 6.7, with Persistent Memory enabled, will accelerate performance on a variety of applications, including business critical Oracle workloads. Or are you setting up an All-Flash vSAN array? Creating one that’s right for your stakeholders can be daunting. What kind of hardware do I need? Is 10GbE networking sufficient? Do I need SAS, or is SATA okay? Is NVMe better? How many disk groups? What's the storage policy configuration? Based on extensive testing, authorities from the Micron labs can show you the ins and outs of All-Flash vSAN solutions. Let the Micron & VMware lab experts show you how hardware can make you an IT hero.
